What can happen when we deconstruct disability, use People First Language, and focus on people’s strengths and abilities? Awesome change is possible when we think differently and talk differently!

Speaker Bio

Kathie is the author of “Disability is Natural: Revolutionary Common Sense for Raising Successful Children with Disabilities” based on 18 years of experience as a public speaker, trainer, and consultant on disability issues. She is the parent of a young man with developmental disabilities and was a popular keynote speaker at the Oregon Conference on Direct Supports. Her mission is to encourage new ways of thinking about disability and to help create a society in which all people are valued and included.
